The town takes its name from the local coastal sighting tower, built around 1600 in defense of Turkish raids, precisely the Torre Granitola, and is situated on a cliff. The beach of Torretta Granitola extends over a small inlet between Pozzitello and Kartibubbo, and not far from the high cliffs of Mazara del Vallo, and is formed by both medium-grained sand and rock, with crystal-clear sea between the blue and the green and shallow seabed that slopes gently, thus making this beach suitable for families with children or inexperienced swimmers. In addition, the tourist village Kartibubbo is adjacent and offers endless possibilities for fun and entertainment for young and old. The beach of Torretta Granitola can be reached along the state road 115 in the direction of Mazara del Vallo, then continuing on the provincial road 38 towards via Dandolo, until you reach the parking lot. One of the events that attracts many tourists from neighboring countries is the "summer carnival", which takes place in August. Moreover, on August 15, the Assumption of Mary is celebrated with a procession at sea, and with the arrival at the port of a boat with the statue of the Madonna on board. An interesting place to visit in Torretta Granitola is the old tonnara. Here the largest tuna were caught, as they had arrived at the end of their journey. Another place to go hiking and sightseeing is undoubtedly the archaeological site of Selinunte, one of the largest in Europe, which is less than twenty kilometers from Torretta Granitola .
