La Maddalena Spiaggia, also known as Lido di Capoterra, is a seaside resort in the municipality of Capoterra and separated from Cagliari by the Stagno di Santa Gilla . Located on the southern coast of Sardinia, in the Gulf of the Angels : Maddalena Spiaggia is a small town that has both free beaches and concessions for bathing establishments where you can hire beach equipment such as umbrellas, deckchairs and sun loungers.
The beach is broad, long and composed of golden sand and medium grain size mixed with small shells. Part of it is intended for kitesurf lovers: in fact there is a kite zone dedicated to lovers of this water sport. Maddalena beach is also frequented by families with children because the seabed is low and gently sloping. A curiosity : off the beach of Maddalena Spiaggia Frutti d'Oro is the wreck of a Roman merchant ship foundered in these waters. Over the years the storm surges have brought to the shore some wooden finds belonging to the ship and after some investigations by the Superintendent it has been discovered the presence of dolie, of the large terracotta amphorae used for the transport of wine and grains in all the Mediterranean.
