The Grande beach of Positano is the main and largest beach of this beautiful town overlooking the Amalfi Coast . It is located right next to the town, and is accessed along the pedestrian street that starts from the center and descends towards the sea through the whole country. During this walk to the sea, visitors have the opportunity to visit the colorful shops and shops that deal with local handicrafts and artifacts, such as the typical fabrics of Positano, hand-made sandals, and typical ceramics. The Grande beach of Positano is about 400 meters long and more than 70 meters wide, and it is found going down from the center towards the sea, immediately after the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. The beach is mainly made up of pebbles, while in the central part towards the mainland we find dark sand of medium grain. The sea is blue – green and very transparent, with a shallow bottom that slopes gently, and is therefore suitable for families with children and less experienced swimmers. Also for this reason it has conquered the Green Flag by the Italian Pediatricians. To the right of the Grande beach stands the marina from which hydrofoils and ferries depart for various locations and for trips and excursions by sea on the Amalfi coast and to Capri, and at the end of the stretch of beach on the left is the bathing establishment “L'Incanto ”, Very famous and frequented by VIPs. The left side of the beach hosts numerous bathing establishments, the right side houses the shipping companies, and only in the central part remains a stretch of free beach. The presence of numerous establishments means that the Grande beach offers a great variety of services: bars, restaurants, hotels, possibility to rent beach equipment, pedal boat and canoe rental service. On the side of the mainland that runs along the Grande beach you can find numerous bars, restaurants and accommodation facilities, you are spoiled for choice. The Grande beach of Positano is therefore reachable only on foot or, alternatively, by sea, arriving at the pier right next to it. For lovers of nightlife and entertainment there is the particular and very famous "Music on the Rocks" disco, so called because it is carved out of the rock, which hosts the international jet set, with DJs and artists from all over the world, who during summer enliven the evenings and nights of Positano with music. The city of Positano and the Amalfi Coast can be reached by car along the A1 motorway to Caserta, then continuing on the A2 motorway until after Naples, and then passing to the A3 motorway (Salerno-Reggio Calabria) to the Vietri exit Sea, just before Salerno.
