Giardini di Naxos Beach
4.1

The beaches of Giardini di Naxos are located on the north-eastern side of Sicily, in the province of Messina, and extend right by the municipality of the same name, a short distance from Taormina. Suitable for families and young people looking for fun, the city beach has in fact been awarded several times with the Green Flag, a prize awarded by Italian pediatricians to beaches suitable for families with children. show more

You can find two types of beach: one with fine sand, in the central part and another with pebbles in the Recanati area. Some hotels south of the city center also have artificial platforms lying on the cliffs and allow entry into the water thanks to ladders.

The most famous beaches of Giardini Naxos are:

Recanati

The Recanati beach of Giardini di Naxos is half sand and half pebbles and occupies a very large area. The peculiarity of this stretch of coast is that the sandy shore mixes near the sea with pebbles which plunge into transparent and always fresh waters, given the presence of the Alcantara mouth . We advise those who are not used to walking on the shoreline in the presence of pebbles to wear beach shoes. The beach is free and sometimes equipped with the possibility of renting pedal boats and water scooters.

On the whole coast there are refreshment points, small restaurants and in the evening you can have fun among pubs, discos and clubs.

Schisò

A beach appreciated and frequented by most tourists especially in the high season. The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation, the coast is composed of fine golden sand and the sea is deep blue.

There are both bathing establishments where you can rent chairs and umbrellas, and free beach and of course there is no lack of refreshment points, bars and restaurants.

San Giovanni

Fine beach and clear sea surrounded by a beautiful landscape that gives prominence to the majestic church of the historic center.

Saja Marina

This beach is formed by sandy coves cut out in the middle of the lava rocks that rise even in the water. In this area you can practice rowing and you can rent equipment for the practice of this sport on the beach.

All the beaches of Giardini Naxos can be reached on foot from the city center. Those who love to do excursions can easily reach: Savoca, Taormina, the Alcantara gorges, Mount Etna, Catania, Isola bella and Acireale.

Giardini Naxos can be reached from Catania airport renting a car and taking the A18 motorway towards Messina, exiting at the Giardini-Naxos tollbooth.

By bus from Catania airport there is a direct bus to Taormina, which also stops at Giardini-Naxos. The bus stop “Recanati” is the main destination stop. The bus leaves every hour.
