Gatteo a Mare is a seaside resort rich in entertainment for tourists of all ages and backgrounds and the mouth of the Rubicone River divides it from the nearby San Mauro a Mare . The beach, like that of most of the beaches on the Adriatic coast, is broad and composed of fine-grained sand with a light color . Most of the coastline is given in concession to bathing establishments that offer entertainment to customers such as group dances and water aerobics. The beach of Gatteo a Mare is a beach with high attendance and plenty of services in the immediate vicinity. Like all seaside resorts in Romagna, it offers a wide variety of accommodation facilities such as hotels and bed and breakfasts. The cleanliness of the beach, the shallow and sloping seabeds and the services offered to families: have meant that the town was awarded the Green Flag by the Italian Paediatricians Association for child-friendly beaches.

Il paese è piacevole e ben organizzato. Forse un po’ troppo affollato, specie in spiaggia, dove tra un ombrellone e l’altro esiste a malapena lo spazio vitale per muoversi o semplicemente spostare la propria sdraio all’ombra. Avendo passeggiato lungomare sia verso nord sia verso sud, devo rilevare come i bagnini di Gatteo siano un po’ pigri: mentre nelle altre località romagnole la mattina presto vengono raccolte le alghe accumulate sulla spiaggia e smaltite, a Gatteo questo non succede. Peccato perchè il bagnasciuga sarebbe più fruibile.

Cittadina carina e curata, tipica della riviera romagnola: piena di alberghi e residenze turistiche, vivace ma non eccessiva, molto adatta alle famiglie.
La spiaggia però è assolutamente troppo fitta di ombrelloni! Ho visitato quasi tutta la riviera romagnola ma quella di Gatteo ha decisamente il primato negativo per ombrelloni/ metro quadrato; appena giri il lettino per seguire il sole o l’ombra sei sotto l’ombrellone del vicino. Peccato…
