The beaches of Chia are located in the municipality of Domus de Maria, on the south-western coast of Sardinia. An enchanting place, made up of beaches and white sand dunes and bordered by a pond that has become the natural habitat of pink flamingos, it is dominated by the Chia Tower, built by the Spaniards during their domination. This area, also known as the Caribbean of Sardinia for the color of the emerald green sea, was awarded in the past the highest scores of Legambiente for the beauty of the beaches, and is chosen every year by millions of Italian and foreign tourists for their holidays at the sea. The most beautiful beaches of the Chia coast are: – Su Giudeu – Sa Colonia – Cala Cipolla Most of the beaches on this stretch of coast are free beaches with tourist services, such as refreshment points and equipment rentals, but we also find equipped bathing establishments . For the shallow water and for many points of this coast line sheltered from the mistral wind, the beaches of the coast of Chia are suitable for a family holiday in Sardinia with children and lovers of diving and snorkeling, but there are also spots suitable for surfers . All the beaches of Chia are equipped with ample parking and wheelchair accessible, with walkways that reach the beach and – in some of them – there is the possibility for those who have motor disabilities to enter the water using the special JOB chairs . Su Giudeu is a Caribbean beach, with emerald waters and fine white sand. In front of this beach stands the rock Su Giudeu, 18 meters high and, at times of low tide, reachable by walking. It is a very wide beach, which covers areas of free beach and equipped areas, it also includes a bar-restaurant and a parking lot. This beach, due to its beauty, is also often chosen as a setting for films and commercials. Sa Colonia is a jewel of nature: fine sand of golden color and blue water, with shallow waters that gradually descend. In front of this beautiful beach in Sardinia is the islet of Su Cardolinu that joins the beach with a strip of sand. Sa Colonia is one of the favorite places for surf and water sports enthusiasts, as it is exposed to the mistral winds. Cala Cipolla is a small sheltered cove surrounded by a forest of junipers and pines, here the color of the sea varies from blue to green and the very shallow bottom is also suitable for children, with small rocks that emerge from the water.
