Beaches of Capo Testa
Santa Teresa di Gallura, OT
15°
The beaches of Capo Testa are located in Gallura, in the territory of Santa Teresa di Gallura, on the northern coast of Sardinia and separated by the Spiaggia dei due Mari (also known as Rena di Ponente beach and Rena di Levante beach ) from the nearby Santa Reparata . Capo Testa is a promontory joined by an isthmus to the mainland and it is particular for the massive presence of light rocks of a granitic nature that thanks to the erosion of wind and atmospheric agents have assumed bizarre shapes. Everything is surrounded by a crystal clear turquoise sea and a thick and lush Mediterranean vegetation. The beaches are small, the beaches of Capo Testa are in fact mostly rocky coves accessible by footpaths or by sea. These include: Cala Francese, Cala Spinosa, Cala Poltusinu and the Scogliera della Funtanaccia ; all inlets mainly composed of rocks where you can practice sports like snorkeling and scuba diving . Among the sandy beaches of Capo Testa, mention should be made of the Valle della Luna beach, also known as Cala Grande, located on the western coast of the promontory about four kilometers from the town and the famous Spiaggia di Zia Colomba (or Zia Culumba) which overlooks on the Bay of Santa Reparata and famous for the presence of ancient Roman columns a few meters from the shore; the beach is in fact also known as Tibula Beach from the ancient name of the imperial colony that was established in this stretch of coast to extract the granite to be used for the construction of the monuments of the Empire. Capo Testa is a place full of charm due to its granite rocks and caves that can be visited with guided tours. Location awarded several times with the Blue Flag by FEE Italia ( Foundation for environmental education ).
