Cala Gonone is a fraction of the municipality of Dorgali, in the province of Nuoro, inside the Gulf of Orosei, on the east coast of Sardinia. The lack of population centers and roads in this area makes this coast one of the most interesting areas from a naturalistic and environmental point of view. Most of the beaches in this area are accessible only from the sea, or along the inland paths, surrounded by cliffs and cliffs, cliffs, caves and rocky installations, which strike the eye of visitors, offering views of rare beauty. In front of the town of Cala Gonone and next to the small harbor there is the Central Beach, a wide beach of coarse light sand mixed with pebbles, with clear and transparent waters, in a sea always calm sheltered from the winds and a gently sloping seabed with shady trees that surround this part of the coast. This is the preferred beach for families with children, with free and paid parking, bars, refreshment points, and a gangway for disabled access. Continuing along the coast we find the beaches of Palmasera, a series of free beaches accessible from the road, then the beaches of Sos Dorroles and S'Abba Meica that can be reached on foot from the parking, located at the end of the promenade, and finally the beach of Ziu Martine, of rocks and smooth pebbles, Cala Fuili, Cala Luna and Cala Goloritzè . The beaches of the area are among the most enchanting in Sardinia, with colors, scents and emotions that only exotic seas can give. In this same area the cave of the Bue Marino, which, starting from the coast, enters the mountain for about 70 kilometers, and which until a few years ago housed the monk seal, now given extinct in this area; the cave can be visited with the guide for about 800 meters for a path with artificial lighting. The coast of Cala Gonone is rich in pensions, hotels, camping, airbnb and accommodation activities. Among the places to visit in Cala Gonone, deserves the Aquarium, with 25 display tanks, which houses fish and marine animals from the distant Amazon, from our Mediterranean Sea, to exotic and colorful tropical seas. The resort of Cala Gonone is also chosen by lovers of a vacation in nature, lovers of trekking or climbing, hang-gliding, paragliding, mountain biking, scuba diving. For the most demanding guests from a cultural point of view, in the area you can visit the archaeological sites of Nuraghe Mannu, the dolmen of Monte Longu and some Domus de Janas. DOG-FRIENDLY : A holiday in Sardinia with the dog is possible in this area, as there are several pet friendly beaches, such as S'Abba Meica (right side), the stretch of sea below the Hotel Cala Luna and the side left of the beach of Osalla.
