The beaches of Ancona are located around this beautiful city, capital of the Marche region, located on the Adriatic coast and on a promontory formed by the northern side of Monte Conero. This promontory forms the gulf of Ancona, at the center of which lies the port. The city of Ancona is famous for its beaches, some of high coast, others of low coast, like the beach of Passetto, the beach of Mezzavalle, the beach of Palombina, the beach of Portonovo . In the city center the attractions for tourists and art lovers are the Duomo, the Calamo fountain, the Arco di Traiano and the Lazzaretto, which stands on an artificial island. The beaches of Palombina Nuova and Portonovo are accessible to the disabled : the first due to the presence of overpasses with a lift leading to the beach. As for the Portonovo beach, Job chairs are available at the pier, in the area of the Emilia factory but available to the entire beach, and at the Bonetti and La Capannina beaches, also serving the entire beach. The Passetto beach has been equipped with a walkway to the beach by the Municipality and an elevator that leads from the pine forest to the beach.   PASSETTO BEACH Passetto beach is the most famous beach of Ancona and the most frequented by its inhabitants, with its large white rocks, such as the Seggiola del Papa and the Scoglio del Quadrato . The beach is located practically in the city, from the Monument to the Fallen you go down a staircase that leads to the beach or, alternatively, during the summer, an elevator is active. This stretch of coast is rocky with rocks, but there is also a stretch with gravel. However, the seabed is of rocks and it is advisable to go into the water with rock shoes. In this stretch of coastline there are bars and bathing establishments, which provide all kinds of services, further on is the most characteristic area of the Passetto caves, shelters for boats with colorful doors built by the inhabitants and handed down from generation to generation . One of the largest rocks is called the Seggiola del Papa due to its shape, and is located in the same area as the Scoglio del Quadrato, a flat and smooth rock where you can lay down to sunbathe comfortably.   MEZZAVALLE BEACH The beach of Mezzavalle is a beach that is located right at the foot of Monte Conero . It is a wonderful though narrow pebble and gravel beach, with the green spot of the mountain behind it that creates a beautiful contrast for the eyes. This beach is composed of stretches of free beach and stretches of equipped beaches, which provide restrooms, showers and a refreshment point. The sea is crystalline in shades of turquoise with a sloping bottom. The Mezzavalle beach can be reached along the state road 16 which leads to the Conero, then taking the road that descends from the mountain towards the sea and along a downhill path on foot. The effort of the descent and then of the ascent is however rewarded with a panoramic view that takes your breath away for its beauty, especially during the hours of sunset. Mezzavalle beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts, such as surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. PALOMBINA BEACH Palombina beach extends north of the Conero Riviera . It is a few kilometers long beach, made up of fine golden sand, and divided into stretches of free beach and stretches with bathing establishments. The services offered by this long beach are bars, restaurants, services, showers, kiosks, playgrounds, beach equipment rental, pedal boat rental. It is advisable to park along the state road and in the internal streets.   PORTONOVO BEACH Portonovo beach is located within the municipality of Ancona and is located at the foot of the Conero. Here stretches of free beach alternate with stretches of fully equipped beaches that offer every service. The beach is made up of stones and white gravel, the sea is transparent in shades of blue and turquoise, with a sloping seabed. It is a very popular beach for water sports enthusiasts, such as surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
